Cricket Betting at zoya — Top Markets for BPL, IPL and T20 World Cup
Bet on Bangladesh's most popular sport. zoya offers a range of betting markets across all three formats — T20, ODI and Test. Take advantage of live betting from before the match starts right through to the final ball.
The three formats of cricket and why betting differs
To understand cricket betting, it helps to first know the differences between the three formats. Because the style of play varies across formats, the betting markets work differently for each.
T20
The shortest and fastest format. Each team plays 20 overs. BPL, IPL and the T20 World Cup are all played in this format. During tournament season, this section sees the highest volume of bets because the result can shift at any moment.
One Day International
Each team plays 50 overs. The ICC World Cup is played in ODI format. The longer match means more betting opportunities — particularly for those interested in live betting during the middle overs.
Test Cricket
A five-day match. A draw is a valid result, so the match winner market has three options — Team A wins, Team B wins, or draw. The odds shift with every session of this long match.
BPL, IPL and International Cricket
The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is Bangladesh's biggest franchise tournament. Bangladesh Tigers matches generate the most discussion in the local betting community. The Indian Premier League (IPL) is equally popular among cricket fans — with the world's best players on one stage, the variety of markets is much greater.
Beyond these, zoya also offers various markets for ICC T20 World Cup matches, ICC World Cup matches, and Bangladesh's bilateral series fixtures. Odds move more in international matches because the difference in team strength is directly reflected in the odds.
Besides cricket, zoya also offers betting on football, tennis and other sports. Football markets are slightly different since draws are possible and results do not come as quickly as in T20 — so the betting approach differs too.
Popular betting markets and how they work
In cricket, betting is not limited to just who will win. The markets below are the most used at zoya — each comes with a simple example.
Match Winner
A straightforward question — which team will win? Two options in T20 or ODI, three in Test. Example: in a T20 between Team A and Team B, if you think Team B will win, you place your bet on them.
Toss Winner
A bet on which team will win the toss before the match starts. It has no connection to the match result, so both options usually carry roughly equal odds.
Top Batsman
Which batsman from a given team will score the most runs in an innings or the full match. This market lists all batters from a team, each with separate odds.
Total Runs Over/Under
The bookmaker sets a specific run line, for example 165.5. You decide whether Team A's total runs will be above (over) or below (under) that number. In the handicap market, a team is given a run advantage at the start, which balances the odds for the stronger side somewhat.
Multi Bet
You can combine the results of several matches into a single bet. If all selections are correct, the odds multiply and the return is much higher — but one wrong pick means the entire bet is lost.
Top Wicket-Taker
Which bowler will take the most wickets in a match or innings. Odds on this market tend to be higher on batting-friendly pitches and lower in bowler-friendly conditions.
How to read and understand odds
Odds are displayed in three formats — Decimal, Fractional and American (Moneyline). zoya generally uses the decimal format, but knowing the difference makes it easy to convert between any of them.
For more on making informed betting decisions, read the zoya Bet Betting Guide where strategies are discussed in detail.
The two examples below show the odds for two teams in the same match across all three formats:
| Format | Team A (Underdog) | Team B (Favourite) |
|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 2.50 | 1.50 |
| Fractional | 3/2 | 1/2 |
| American | +150 | -200 |
Example 1 — Team A (Underdog): You bet ৳500 at decimal odds of 2.50. If Team A wins, you get back ৳1,250 (৳750 profit + ৳500 original stake). If they lose, ৳500 is gone.
Example 2 — Team B (Favourite): Decimal odds 1.50. If you bet ৳500 and Team B wins, you get back ৳750 (৳250 profit). In American format, -200 means you need to bet ৳200 to make a ৳100 profit.
Live Betting — how odds change during the match
Live or in-play betting means you can place bets even after the match has started. In cricket, the odds change in an instant whenever a wicket falls, a boundary is hit, or one team pulls ahead on run rate.
Say Team A scores 90 runs in the first 10 overs — Team A's odds of winning will drop (they become the favourite) and Team B's odds will rise. Then if three wickets fall in quick succession, the picture can flip in no time.
In T20, live betting is most active at the end of the powerplay and in the final five overs. In ODI, the market behaves differently during the middle overs when the run rate slows. In Test matches, session-based bets — such as how many wickets will fall in the first session — are available separately.
Live betting requires quick decisions. For fast mobile access, using the zoya App lets you easily place bets while watching the match.
What changes in live betting
- When a wicket falls: the batting team's odds rise, the bowling team's odds drop.
- After a big over: the batting team moves ahead and the odds fall quickly.
- In the death overs: the market can turn completely with just 6 balls remaining.
- Rain interruption: if DLS is applied, the live market may temporarily close.
- Real-time updates: odds change every moment, so a fast connection is needed.
How different is betting on football and other sports
After cricket, football betting is the most popular in Bangladesh. The main difference between the two sports is the possibility of a draw. A draw is a normal result in football, so the match winner market always has three options — Team A wins, draw, or Team B wins. In ODI or T20 cricket there is no draw, which makes the market simpler.
In football, half-time/full-time markets, corner counts and goalscorer markets are the equivalent of cricket's top batsman or total runs markets. Live betting is active in both sports, but in cricket the odds change with every ball, so the pace is faster.
Tennis, badminton and virtual sports are also available at zoya. The number of markets varies by sport, but the rules for reading odds are the same everywhere.
Some practical tips before you start betting
Betting is a form of entertainment — it is better not to treat it as a source of income. Keeping the following points in mind will make the experience more controlled and enjoyable.
-
01
Set a budget in advance. Decide how much you are willing to spend each week or month before you start. Do not go beyond that limit.
-
02
Focus on one market first. The match winner market is the most straightforward for beginners. Get comfortable with it across several matches before moving to other markets.
-
03
Do not rush in live betting. Odds change fast, so keep a clear head when making decisions. Placing large bets on impulse is generally harmful.
-
04
Start small with multi bets. Multi bets offer higher returns but also carry higher risk. Start with two or three selections, smaller than a single large bet.
-
05
Play responsibly. If betting is causing stress, take a break. Reading the Responsible Gaming Policy can help you build healthy betting habits.
Multi Bet Example
Three selections: odds 1.40, 1.70 and 1.80
Combined odds: 1.40 × 1.70 × 1.80 = 4.28 (approx.)
If you bet ৳100 and all three are correct, return: ৳428
If even one selection is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost.
